Kenneth and Anita Jacobson of Sierra Nevada Ranch

Anita Jacobson and her husband Kenneth are the owners of Sierra Nevada Ranch. Founded in 2000, the ranch started very small with seven alpacas in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. Shortly after experiencing nearby forest fires the ranch was relocated to Durham, California, with the Sierra Nevada mountain range within view of the ranch. Now, nearly 70 alpacas live on the ranch and are a mix of beautiful suris and huacayas. Although Anita is fond of silver alpacas, a variety of colors are bred on the farm.

The Jacobsons have continuously strived to improve their herd through the addition of proven and award winning bloodlines. They are also inspired by experienced, successful breeders and have purchased some of their best foundation alpacas from those ranches. Anita and her daughter, Cortni, currently attend several shows in California and Oregon annually and use that opportunity to learn from the judges input on the new crop of cria each year.

Their ranch is operated with the help of their children. Cortni is attending college to become an equine and camelid vet. Their son, Logan, is still attending high school and hoping to enter the military after he graduates in 2014. The Jacobsons use all of their fleeces and have many processed into yarns so that Anita and Cortni can make 100% alpaca products to sell. Cortni is currently using the funds from her sales to help pay for her college expenses.

Richard and Jennifer Babcock of Las Bonitas Alpaca Ranch

Las Bonitas Alpaca Ranch, LLC, located on the northeastern edge of Colorado Springs in the beautiful Black Forest is aptly named. Las Bonitas is Spanish for "pretty little ones" and the crias we welcome each year are just that. Our alpacas truly symbolize "An American Heritage." Our herd includes Peruvian, Chilean, and Bolivian alpacas with elite, diverse, and unique bloodlines combined together to produce the finest in champion and award winning conformation and fiber encompassing industry standards of advanced character and lingering fineness. Our huacayas represent superior genetics from the United States and Canada. We offer breeding to our exceptional herdsires, singular bloodlines, sales of alpacas, fiber, and wonderful customer support. We would love to visit with you and show you our ''American Heritage"alpacas.

Kern and Rhonda Deschner of Tierra Prometida Alpaca Ranch

Tierra Prometida Alpaca Ranch is located about 15 miles west of San Marcos, TX, on Ranch Road 32 between Austin and San Antonio. The ranch is situated on a winding, scenic ridge known locally as The Devil's Backbone. Tierra Prometida is Spanish for "Promised Land" and the property is a haven for a rich variety of trees and birds.

We have a herd that is entirely huacaya and consists of about 100 alpacas. We own or co-own several world class herdsires: Caligula's Accoyo Poseidon, Snowmass Touche', TP Poseidon's Motivator, TP Matrix Jubilee, and AL Paca's Topgear. Our mission at Tierra Prometida is to develop an exceptional herd of pedigreed alpacas that exhibit elite characteristics in conformation, fiber quality, and temperament. We enjoy showing our alpacas on a nationally competitive level because it is a measuring stick for objectively assessing our breeding program and whether we are meeting our goals. If we haven't met you yet, please come by and introduce yourself at one of the shows.

Tierra Prometida is the oldest and most experienced alpaca ranch originally established in the Texas Hill Country. We have learned to deal with the challenges (e.g. the heat) and the blessings (e.g. the mild winters) of this particular environment and enjoy sharing our experience and knowledge of alpacas with new breeders.

Greg and Sandy Smith of Black Forest Alpacas

With great views of Pikes Peak, Black Forest Alpacas near Colorado Springs offers country hospitality with superb customer support. In our nine years in the alpaca business, our herd has grown from four females to over 150 huacayas. We have a wide variety of alpacas to select from in all price ranges.

We come from a long line of pioneer farmers/ranchers from South Dakota so farming has always been a part of our lives. Sandy and I each served 20 years in the Air Force and both retired from active duty in 2004. We were able to put the wheels in motion and started our alpaca farm in 2004.

We continue to try and improve our bloodlines with diversification by purchasing herdsires from some of the best breeding programs in the country — Snowmass, Magical, Crescent Moon, etc… Our efforts have paid off in our overall herd quality AND in the show ring. In addition to Motivator’s 26 banners, we currently have nine breeding males who have won championships.

We're excited about the alpaca business and where it is going in the future. We are always trying to learn more about our industry and pass that information on to our customers and friends! We welcome you to come and visit.
